Numerous festivals in the Land of Thunder Dragon bring joy of its rich culture
The Tsechus – an annual traditional festival that spans 3-4 days, is celebrated in most of the districts in Bhutan. These festivals are held in the honor of Guru Rinpoche who brought Buddhism to Bhutan in the 8th century. The local fairs during the festivals are exhibition of mystical rituals that showcases exotic mask performers, wild games and many more such cultural activities that should not be missed.
Participate in any of the traditional festivals of Bhutan and experience the traditional dance, rich culture and spiritual vibrancy of Bhutan. Each festival in Bhutan has its own flavor but share a common theme. Farmers get a chance to enjoy themselves at the time of festivals as those are the times when they get a break from the fields. The attendees attire themselves with colourful traditional clothes, sport exotic masks and participate in the myriad of events that are held as part of religious tradition.
